It is a warm fabric made from animal hair and produced by felting the fibers. In ancient times, felt was used by the Greeks and Romans to make clothes and headdresses. The term “Feltro” comes from Feltre, a Romanized city in the province of Belluno. In Feltre, the wool of sheep and goats was very important for trade in the northern regions of the Roman Empire. Nowadays, felt is used to create hats, bags and jewelry.
